The door slides open before he knocks, showing a tasteful but comfortably lived-in, only slightly uncanny hexagonal living room. There's a knitting basket on a chair, and Jedao is fussing with a bright red and gold tea set, a bizarre bright note in the gentle greens and pale wood decor.
Jedao smiles and waves, as a little cat-sized silvery-white dragon trots over to inspect Jinu, flapping his wings a little as he stands on his back legs to get a better view.
The sliding door opening before he knocks gets him drawing his hand back quickly, glancing around to take in the room and breathing in to take in the tea. The little white dragon gets the first genuine smile that Jinu's given on board and he'll lean down to let the little one get a better look at him.
"Oh yeah," he agrees enthusiastically. The wall opposite the couch flickers - it's suddenly clear that an oddly-shaped end-table-looking-thing was the bottom portion of the game system and the wall above it is the screen; it opens along the side and Jedao floats controllers over to each of them.
"Seems like racing games are pretty classic across planets but I can probably dig something up in any genre you like.
"I can do racing," he says with easy cool, and he'll carefully sit down to make sure he doesn't jostle Jeep; someone's experience with a bird is showing.
"Or I can try something new. No reason to hold back on my account."
"Buddy, if I try to play the kind of peaceful, cooperative puzzle platformers I actually like best, you'll think I'm doing a psyop," Jedao says with a laugh. "Besides, it's a matter of honor now."
So Cario Dart it is. Somehow, it's Mario Kart, but with little dart-shaped spaceships.
"I could be if I tried!" Jedao squawks, with the sort of splutter and bluster of someone who absolutely couldn't.
The game has a good tutorial level, intuitive and thorough, so by the time they're onto one of the proper pathways - stylized after planetary rings - Jinu has the basic mechanics, complete with an array of possible sabotage items.
Which is to say, if Jinu ever wants something in particular, and wants the security of making a bargain instead of asking for charity, that door is open to him: it is something Jedao genuinely wants. But it doesn't have to be Jinu in particular, so Jedao also isn't going to push for it.
"It is a bit wild. What's your favorite piece of idiocy so far?"
Alas, it was a bargain that got him so unlike many, they're actually less secure than gifts. At least with a gift, they can't say that he agreed to the terms.
"I'm supposed to pick a favorite?" That gets a laugh and a shake of his head. Then he shrugs.
"Oh - yes. Grid can be...like the internet, or just computing machines in general." He's had enough breaches with the internet to have a sense of the differences.

"That's Jeep, he's harmless, except to snacks."
no subject
"It's good to meet you, Jeep. My name is Jinu."
He looks up.
"He much of a talker or just a friend?"
no subject
"Not a talker. Sometimes it seems like her understands us, though. He's wondering if you have snacks."
no subject
"Sorry, buddy, no snacks. I'll come prepared next time, promise."
Probably the most genuine thing he's said this whole time.
no subject
"Guess he likes you," Jedao observes, grinning, as he waves Jinu over toward the couch.
no subject
"Good, cause I like him too." To Jeep himself: "You're welcome up there any time you like."
At least until he could get Sussie back. His bird was a little particular about certain things.
"But I think you offered video games?"

"Seems like racing games are pretty classic across planets but I can probably dig something up in any genre you like.

"Psyop?" He huffs a laugh before he shakes his head. "You're not a psyop."
He focuses his eyes on the screen, reaches for the control, and waits to see what he has to learn.

"And why would you be a psyop on me, exactly?"
He looks resolutely at the screen.
"No profit."
no subject
"But people like to gossip so much around here it isn't ever really necessary to do ops about it." In a tone of vague concession.
no subject
"Like you don't have one already."
Para. noid. Just differently.
"And if it isn't gossip, then it's probably just the weird things letting the cat out of the bag."
He's read back on some of those. Seriously.

"...were there really pet shaming signs?"
no subject
"I guess I did used to see people do that to pets on the grid," he realizes.
Some of those revelations were more farcical than others.

He doesn't know if it's a reference Jedao will get, but hopefully the similar shape reference will help.
